The Mandalorian Grogu’s Favorite

This painting was made for the group show With Love, Your Biggest Fan 4 at Arch Enemy Arts. This is a tribute to favorite tv show, movie or comic. I watched the Mandalorian with my boyfriend and I have to say, he was a bigger fan than me. It's been years that my love for Star Wars universe has started to fade. So I didn't catch the Baby Yoda fever. But the blue cookie/macaron scene stuck with me, maybe because I just love them. The opportunity was too good to make a kinda vintage ad for Grogu's favorite macarons. I was inspired too by the video by Babish bake blue macarons for Jon Favreau. (link)

After some doodles, I came with the final sketch that I color in photoshop, just to be sure of what color palette to use. I didn't picture it but I bought an old painting made on a wood kinda plate in a thrift store that I sanded it.

The colors I’ve used with the mixes I made

First step, I make my color blends. Then I transfer the pattern on the panel with tracing paper and I paint the frame and background. I always proceed like that so I can calibrate better colors of the image center. I use this little dotting tool to make dots and tear-shaped dots (is there a name for this?). It works well with fluid acrylics. It gives texture when it's dry, even more if you use a medium body acrylics.

When the ''frame'' is done, it's time for the main part. I transfer the outline and paint it. Then I do the same for the title. 2-3 layers of gloss varnishes and it's done!

I love using fancy plates as palette!
